Gnimansou Abraham FAVI is a PhD in Botany and Plant Ecology, born in 1989 in Kalalé (Benin). In 2008, he began his university studies in chemistry, biology, and geology at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC) in Benin, where he obtained his M.Sc. degree in Natural Sciences in 2014 and his M.Sc. in Botany in 2017. He then obtained a Ph.D. in Botany and Plant Ecology in 2022 at the High School "Life and Earth Sciences" at the same university. Since 2022, he has been working as an assistant researcher at the National Herbarium of Benin and the Laboratory of Botany and Plant Ecology (LaBEV) at UAC. His fields of research and teaching are botany, ethnobotany, plant taxonomy, plant ecology, conservation biology, and species distribution modeling. His research is particularly focused on wild edible plants, their uses, ecology and distribution, threats, and propagation modes to ensure sustainable management. Mr. G. Abraham FAVI has (co)authored of at least 11 scientific articles published in international journals with impact factors and is also a reviewer for two international peer-reviewed journals. Mr. G. Abraham FAVI is currently the lead of a new-born NGO named ACCES (Action for Climate, Conservation, and Ecosystem Sustainability) in Benin. He has strong skills in cartography and modeling tools, youth leadership, and sustainable development.
Mr Clément ADJIRE a geographer by training, holds a doctorate in Environmental Geoscience and Spatial Planning with a specialisation in GIS from the Multidisciplinary Doctoral School at the University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin. He is a member of the research team at the Biogeography and Environmental Expertise Laboratory in the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, where he teachers practical work in GIS and in reading topographical and geological maps of Benin. Clément ADJIRE has professional experience in the field of environmental protection with a good command of GIS tools. He is an expert cartographer in the implementation of activities under the “extension phase of the mapping of land use and its changes” financed by the Spatial Observation of Forests of Central and West Africa (OSFACO) and the project to support the Preservation and Development of Gallery Forests and Production of digital base maps in Benin (PAPDFGC), he has carried out missions organized within the framework of these two projects on the one hand to carry out fieldwork, the establishment of the database and on the other hand to learn about the dynamics of forest resources throughout Benin. He is also proficient in setting (the implementation) up planning and environmental monitoring documents. Clément ADJIRE has also made scientific publications in the field of environmental protection. The Bryoben project is a further opening up of knowledge in its scientific life and its technical support in assessing floristic diversity, mapping the distribution of bryophytes and predictive modeling of these species in Benin.
Dègninou Yélognissè Innocent AHAMIDE is a Beninese botanist and ecologist, born in 1988 in Djougou (Benin). In 2007, he began his university studies in chemistry, biology, and geology at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC) in Benin, where he obtained his M.Sc. degree in Natural Sciences in 2011. Then he held his M.Sc. degree in Natural Resources and Biodiversity Management in 2014 at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of UAC and obtained his Ph.D. in Botany in 2018 at the High School "Life and Earth Sciences" at the same university. Since 2018, he has been working as a lecturer-researcher at the national herbarium and the Laboratory of Botany and Plant Ecology at UAC. His research and teaching areas are botany, ethnobotany, plant taxonomy, plant ecology, plant conservation, and management of herbarium specimens. He is especially interested in parasitic plants, invasive plants, threatened plants and their habitats, and neglected plants. To date, Mr. AHAMIDE has (co)authored a total of 07 scientific articles published in international peer-reviewed journals. He is also a manuscript reviewer for 03 international peer-reviewed journals and a member of the NGOs "Save Our Planet" and "Global Youth Biodiversity Network" (GYBN Benin) involved in biodiversity conservation. Mr. AHAMIDE is currently the Head of the Research and Capacity Building Department at "SOS BIODIVERSITY" NGO, where he coordinates training and research projects on biodiversity conservation in Benin. He has strong skills in capacity building, communication, youth leadership, and social integration.
Jéronime Marie-Ange Sènami OUACHINOU is a botanist with a special interest in ethnobotany, ethnopharmacology, and plant conservation. She hold a PhD in Botany and currently Research Assistant at the Laboratory of Botany and Plant Ecology (Faculty of Sciences and Techniques, University of Abomey-Calavi). As Assistant, Jéronime organizes praticals for students of first, second and third year of bachelor’s degree in Sciences of the Life at her Faculty. Her responsibilities include also writing proposals, collecting and analyzing field data and writing scientific papers. To date, she is (co) authored at total 10 scientific articles published in international peer review journals and 2 scientific reports (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9940-5061). She’s a Reviewer for two Journals namely Journal of Ethnopharmacology and Environment, Development and Sustainability. Jéronime is also member of access NGO which focuses on conservation of natural resources, ecotourism and climate change. Two words that describe her are: determination and rigor.
